The Rangers, The Bruins, And The End Of An Era ReviewAuthor Jay Moran, a life long Ranger and hockey fan, has written a magnificent 600 plus page look back at one of the great hockey rivalries involving the New York Rangers and Boston Bruins of the late 60's and early 70's. Going into great detail, thanks to the countless interviews conducted with former players, the author brings the reader back in time as Jean Ratelle, Rod Gilbert, Vic Hadfield, Brad Park, and Eddie Giacomin do battle against the likes of Phil Esposito, Bobby Orr, Johnny Bucyk, Ken Hodge and Gerry Cheevers. The book has two large photo sections, revealing never before seen photo's of the two teams battling one another. The book also touches on the Ranger rivalry with the broad street bullies, the Philadelphia Flyers. The book effectively ends during the 1975 season, as GM and coach Emil Francis dismantled the team he had bulit over the prior decade. Jean Ratelle, Brad Park, Rick Middleton, and Gilles Villemure were gone. The biggest hurt to us Ranger fans, was the sale of HOF goalie Eddie Giacomin to The Detroit Redwings. Considered one of the 50 greatest moments in Madison Square Garden history, Giacomin and the last place Redwings came into the Garden two days after the trade, and the rest is history, as Eddie turned away 42 shots in a 6 to 4 victory over the Rangers, as the entire crowd rooted for Eddie and the wings the entire night. This book will not appeal to a casual hockey fan, but if you are a die hard Ranger fan or an old-time fan, you are going to treasure the vast amount of information this encyclopedic type hockey reference will give you, which includes game by game breakdowns and boxscores that you will not find anywhere else. This book already has a place in my hockey library, and I give this book my highest recommendation. The Rangers, The Bruins, And The End Of An Era OverviewWant to learn more information about The Rangers, The Bruins, And The End Of An Era?
