An Illustrated History of Pornography ReviewThis is an extremely well put together book which features little "true pornography" and instead does a splendid job of showing visual and written versions of human sexuality and morays throughout the ages. What the Romans and Greeks took to be natural, later Christians and Muslims of a more fundamental mindset, took to be evil pornography and obscenity. What was obscene and pornographic to the traditionalists of the 17th and 18th centuries now seems rather quaint and almost artistic. What is sure is that people have not changed in 40,000 years. They do the same things with their bodies they did then. It is really more a compendium of eroticism than actual pornography. A few photos at the end are benignly pornographic, showing some exposed genitalia and some penetration shots but they are all from 1967 0r 1968 and so the models are all freewheeling "hippies" and as such seem almost dated today. It is actually a very well written and researched volume and well laid out with both color and black and white illustrations. For those of a more free and open mindset this is a wonderful compendium of human sexual history and not pornographic in the least.An Illustrated History of Pornography Overview
